法律 Clinic Director and Professor Emeritus Bill Quigley to Receive St. 艾夫斯奖

The 罗耀拉大学 新奥尔良 法学院 and 法律 校友 Board are excited to present the law school’s most prestigious recognition, 圣. 艾夫斯奖, to 法律 Clinic Director and Professor Emeritus Bill Quigley, JD ‘77. 

这个奖项, which recognizes graduates who serve the college and represent the profession's highest standards, will be bestowed at the 2024 法学院 校友 Luncheon on Jan. 19, 2024. The luncheon will be held at the Ritz-Carleton, 新奥尔良 at 11 a.m. You can learn more and purchase tickets here. 

这个奖项 recognizes Quigley’s distinguished career as a public interest and human rights lawyer, an academic and an author. His work has been devoted to social justice issues, 包括公共房屋, the right to a job and a living wage, voting rights and education reform. He served as director of the 法律 Clinic and the Gillis Long Poverty 法律 Center at Loyola for more than 30 years. 

Quigley has also litigated numerous cases with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., the 进步 Project and the ACLU of Louisiana and has served as an advisor on human and civil rights to Human Rights Watch USA and Amnesty 国际 USA. He has been an active lawyer with School of the Americas Watch and the Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti. 

除了, Quigley has authored several books, including “Ending Poverty As We Know It: Guaranteeing A Right to A Job At A Living Wage” (2003) and “Storms Still Raging: Katrina, 新奥尔良 and Social Justice” (2008). He has been recognized for his service through numerous scholarly awards.
